If you force-quit iTunes and try again iTunes will skip the backup with the error message:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;iTunes could not backup the iPad &#8220;Chris&#8217;<\/em><em>s iPad&#8221; because a session could not be started with the iPad&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I did a little research to find a solution, here&#8217;s what works for me:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quit or Force-Quit iTunes<\/li>\n<li>Delete your old\u00a0backup: ~\/Library\/Application Support\/MobileSync\/Backup<\/li>\n<li>Delete all files from ~\/Library\/Lockdown and \/var\/db\/lockdown<\/li>\n<li>Reboot Mac<\/li>\n<li>Reboot iPad (hold Home and Power buttons until Apple logo appears)<\/li>\n<li>Run iTunes<\/li>\n<li>Select Reset Warnings and Reset Cache in iTunes Preferences &gt; Advanced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hope this helps someone else.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several times lately when I&#8217;ve tried to sync my iPad it&#8217;s failed to complete the backup stage, even after 10-12 hours.
